Our Office Services
Holistic Aging Solutions
Holistic Aging Solutions is dedicated to caring for the whole person, recognizing healing is always possible, even when curing is not.
How does the holistic approach differ from traditional and conventional medicine (Western Allopathic)?
Holistic healing takes a holistic approach and focuses on the mental, spiritual, emotional and physical states of the individual. This approach helps find balance within the mind, body and spirit.
Typically, Conventional Medicine (Western Allopathic) focuses solely on the physical health – looking at the illnesses and cures.
We strongly believe that the body can no longer be looked at as a machine with component parts to which a health care practitioner treats one component, while ignoring their interactions and other supporting systems. Holistic Aging Solutions’ philosophy of care and the services and programs we offer focus on healing, as well as attention to all aspects of the individual, including their physical, emotional, cultural, mental, social and spiritual needs.

Far Infrared Sauna
An infrared sauna is a type of sauna that uses light to create heat. These saunas are sometimes called far–infrared saunas — “far” describes where the infrared waves fall on the light spectrum.
A traditional sauna uses heat to warm the air, which in turn warms your body. Infrared saunas provide the same effect, but without warming the air around you, since the infrared light is able to penetrate human tissue to warm the body. Known for producing a host of anti-aging
health benefits, far infrared saunas have become one of the ‘hottest’ therapies for overall healthier living.
Ionic Detoxification Foot Bath
Our bodies accumulate different types of toxins every day through eating, drinking and breathing, as well as exposure to medications, chemicals, and toxic environments, to name a few. These toxins cause cells within the body to die faster, which leads to pre-mature aging and diseases. While we have organs and systems to detoxify, over years of accumulation, along with improper diet and sedentary lifestyles, these excretory organs being to function sub-optimally. Symptoms such as hormone imbalances, flu-like aches and pains, poor nutrient absorption, digestive issues, fatigue, weight gain, poor concentration and memory issues, as well as depression and skin problems are all associated with toxic build-up in our bodies.
The theory behind the system, which was approved by the FDA in 1970, uses micro current to facilitate the movement or transfer or ions in and out of cells and restores the balance of positive and negative charges within the cell. This non-invasive micro-current opens up the pathways to boost or energize the body, allowing detoxification to occur.
A common misconception regarding Ionic Footbaths is that the colors they see in the water are toxins that have exited the body. This is mostly false. During your session, the water in the basin will ALWAYS change to a brown/orange color due to the electrolyctic reaction involving the ‘array’, salt, water, minerals and impurities in the water. In addition, the colors are also affected by oils being released from the sebaceous glands, the dead skin cells and the use’s own acidity/alkalinity. *An unusual amount of a particular color may indicate that a person has accumulated toxins in certain areas or from certain conditions and that ionic detox is helping those areas.

Clinical Aroma Therapy using Therapeutic Grade Essential Oils
The use of aromatic plants and herbs dates back thousands of years and every part of the world has used them as part of their health care system. The connection between plants and people means that we each have an influence on each other.
Each plant has the unique ability to draw nutrients from the Earth and transform them into bio-active constituents that create a corresponding biological response in the human body.
Aromatherapy is the use of therapeutic oils extracted from organic plant matter in order to heal.
There are two main clinical uses of aromatherapy:
- to enhance relaxation, relieve stress, anxiety, and promote a sense of well-being
- to fight against bacterial, viral, and fungal infections
The owner of Holistic Aging Solutions, Bobbi Kolonay, RN MS is a Certified Holistic Nurse, a Certified Clinical Aroma Therapist and an Herbalist. Because of her education and expertise as a holistic nurse, her focus has always been on the clinical (healing) aspects of plants.
Bobbi uses her expertise as both a clinician and Aromatherapist to prepare custom made blends to treat such common symptoms as infection, insomnia, nausea and vomiting, pain, inflammation, stress and well-being. Our oils are purchased from the highest quality organic farms throughout the world and we do not participate in any tiered marketing essential oil program.
We also have some “tried and true” blends available for purchase in our office such as Cold/Flu Blend, Memory Blend, Anti-Inflammatory Pain Blend and the most popular “Celebrate your Life.” You can stop by our office to make a purchase of any of these pre-made therapeutic aromatherapy blends (we provide an instruction guide and a description of each blend with every purchase).
Using herbs and spices that have disease-preventive effect in foods is one of the best ways to take advantage of their healing power. For example, it appears that the daily use of the spice turmeric in curry dishes is one reason elderly people in India have one of the lowest rates of Alzheimer’s disease in the world. There are times when an herbal remedy may offer a safer alternative than a pharmaceutical. Sometimes, it is better to use mild remedies for minor health problems and save the more potent, or riskier, prescription medications for more serious conditions treated by a medical doctor.
Not all herbs are alike. The herbs we offer for your consideration are USDA Certified Organic Herbs, extracted with Certified Organic Grain Alcohol, processed with Certified Organic methods, and laboratory tested for potency. They represent the closest meeting of an herb that Nature can provide.
The best herbal medicines are those you grow yourself. Maintaining a personal herb garden can ensure freshness and quality. Ms. Kolonay has a medicinal garden in her back yard and would be glad to share her ideas and gardening experience with you.
Barbara Kolonay is available by consult to help you integrate the use of essential oils and herbs into your holistic lifestyle. Contact us for an appointment today!
